Biography
Dr. Muthusamy earned his medical degree with honors from the University of
Washington School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Duke
University Medical Center.
He subsequently completed a fellowship in the Division of Gastroenterology at the
University of California, San Francisco and an advanced endoscopy fellowship at
University of California, Irvine with Dr. Kenneth Chang.
He is a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American
Gastroenterology Association, and the American College of Gastroenterology.
Expertise and Interests
Dr. Muthusamy served as the director of Endoscopic Ultrasound at UCSF Medical Center.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Muthusamy has a general research interest in the
evaluation of new endoscopic technologies for the treatment and diagnosis of digestive disorders.
His specific current interests include endoscopic ablative techniques for Barrett’s esophagus and
esophageal adenocarcinoma, as well as the clinical applications of endoscopic ultrasound.
